I know it's too long since my last post, but I decided to come back on the last day of 2011 :) .
I'm writing this post about the most important event that happened for me in 2011.... It's my second internship at Cairo Microsoft Innovation Lab ( CMIC ) (ATL Cairo ) .
Story:
During my last 2 month of my third academical year as Computer and Systems Engineering Student at Faculty of Engineering Alexandria university, I heard about opening positions at CMIC for Software Development Engineering Internships. I prepared my resume , transcript , cover letter and references letter and I applied for the position.
After 1.5 month :) the Operations Manager of CMIC contacted me to move to Cairo for a technical written exam. I was in the middle of my final exams at my university, However, I decided to accept the invitation and I traveled to Cairo for one day trip. It was hard for me to let my exams and travel but I think that I did well in the exam due to my spirit to get the job.
About the exam, It was 11 papers written exam, It contained questions about ( reasoning and probability - programming and brain teasers - Testing ). The part of reasoning and probability was little hard but I think that I did well in the whole exam.
After 2 weeks , I received another email from the Operations Manager and the HR informing me that I passed the exam successfully and that they wanted me to move to Cairo again for On Site interviews. again I was in the middle of my exams but as usual I accepted the invitation and I traveled to Cairo in another one day trip :).
During my On Site interviews, I had 2 technical interviews and then another HR interview. The interviews was interesting for me and I enjoyed them a lot.
At night , when I came back to Alexandria, I received the most happiest Email in my live . I'm ACCEPTED :) .
I spent 2 months in Cairo during this internship. Travelling to Alexandria every weekend was little hard for me but I spent the most amazing 2 months in my life. I gained many benefits from this Internship ( Technical , behavioral and Sociable). I had new friends and I enjoyed staying with them for 2 months. Also, my mentors were extremely helpful for me and I enjoyed the environment of work at CMIC.
Internship achievements
The internship was mainly about Video Processing Framework using DirectShow (C++).
I have done a survey on an applied research about (Cartoon and Sketch Generation) and
developed an application using this applied research.The application was an interesting idea to make the webcam live chat seems to be a call in a cartooning sketch style.I have presented a technical presentation to the Mobile team in CMIC about the video framework. I have presented two other technical presentations to the sta ff of CMIC about my Internship output.
Finally, I miss all CMIC staff , Post Docs and researchers :). I hope I can apply again for new available positions there.
